Immovable

Is the prompt for IF this week

Modernity is the transient, the fleeting, the contingent; it is one half of art, the other being the eternal and the immovable. ~ Charles Baudelaire

I relate this to a persons love and internal fortitude as well.

Midnight Minstrels

'Atmosphere' is the topic for IF this week.

****GIVE AWAY****

“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.” ~ Claude Monet.

For a FREE print (including international shipping) of the above painting "Midnight Minstrels" just become a 'friend' of this blog and leave a comment. A person will be picked at random on Thursday.
 Good Luck xox

Star Gazing

Is this week's topic for  Illustration Friday

"Star gazing is a connection to humanity's earliest curiosity about our place in the universe"
 ~ Thomas Kiernan

I only just finished this painting, which is perfect for the topic.
I think it will make a nice Christmas card if I can think that far in advance.
wait a minute....
it's only 4 months away!

cagey

This week's suggestion on Illustration Friday is
"Caged".

“Much talking is the cause of danger.
Silence is the means of avoiding misfortune.
The talkative parrot is shut up in a cage.
Other birds, without speech, fly freely about.”
~ Saskya Pandita

ARTificial

This weeks topic on Illustration Friday is
'ARTIFICIAL'
with the quote provided
""Making social comment is an artificial place for an artist to start from. If an artist is touched by some social condition, what the artist creates will reflect that, but you can't force it." ~ Susan Sontag

It reminds me also of the a quote by 'SCHILLER';
"If by your actions and by your art you cannot please everyone -
please a few, to please everyone is bad."
I guess the moral is to be true to yourself and not become 'artificial' to please others.
hmmm
would love to hear your comments on this...
