FINISHED !!!!

So, it's finally finished ....

I'm happy with how it turned out, it was a different style/colour mix for me.

I can see the image representing the 21st Century need for hunting and collecting things usually for appearance sake. To make yourself feel better and even more so - for appearance (hence the antlers).

 Background, antlers and basket

It's a midnight blue/burnt umber background.

I'm enjoying the dark background against the lighter tones.

are crackled below.

The paint is still wet on her hair, if you look closely I think you can see the paper bubble a bit. I've blocked in the base colours here and have tried to not get too caught up in details.

 

 

I want the light source to be from above, I'm also wanting to have a slightly surreal look to her features, a bit 'Alice in Wonderland-ish' if that makes any sense !?

New Painting

 

 

Acrylic on brown paper canvas.

This is the first of a new set, I'm starting small, this canvas is 300x400mm (12x15")

I want to play around with shadow and a dark background.

I've started with a red pastel brief sketch.

 

Just in case you are confused, it is intended to be a painting of a girl holding her hand above her brow. I'd like her to have either antlers or tree branches looking like antlers and a basket of some sort in her arms.

 

I'm really looking forward to working on her more - certainly looking a bit basic at the moment as I start on her skin tones.
